Location
Żagań forest district is one of twenty district within Regional Directorate of the State Forests in Zielona Góra. In the west it borders on Wymiarki Forest District, in the north on Lipinki Krzystkowice Forest District, Szprotawa and Świętoszów (RDSF Wrocaw) Forest Districts in the east and Ruszów (RDSF Wrocław) in the south.
History
Before 1945, Żagań Forest District were on the area of German Reich, being mostly state, property and peasant owned. During Second World War enormous fires took place on the areas of Żagań Forest District.
Forest district arrangement
The Forest District Żagań is basic, independent organizational entity of the State Forests working pursuant to the Forest Act. It is subordinated to Regional Directorate of the State Forests in Zielona Góra, which supervises and coordinates all the actions within its territory.
Cooperation
Żagań Forest District co-operates with Landratsamt Bautzen Kreisforstamt (County Forest Office) from Saxony (Germany). The headquarter of the project partner Landsratsamt Bautzen Kreisforstamt is located in Kamenz. Further information can be found here.
