WATER RETENTION
Żagań Forestry Authority rebuilt small water retention facilities. The works were performed as part of a programme under the name of Increasing the retention potential and counteracting floods and draughts in lowland ecosystems in forested areas, coordinated by the Centre for Coordination of Environmental Project.

Commonly known as "Przy Kapliczce", the task was completed in the area of Mirostowice forest precinct in 2012. Thanks to a EU grant, precious marshland ecosystems were revitalised.
Altogether 16 facilities were developed, including 7 previously existing water reservoirs. Water retention in the revitalised area increased by approximately 45,000 cu.m of water. |
